A dialogue on a kiss

A Dialogue on a Kiss is a duo dedicated to historically informed performance in its’ most intimate and communicative form; the lute song. The ensemble founded in 2010 by singer Michal Bitan (Israel- The Netherlands) and lutenist Earl Christy (USA – The Netherlands), takes its name from Henry Lawes’ flirtatious duet of the same name.
A Dialogue on a Kiss was born with the intention of breaking the invisible wall between the stage and the audience, connecting a new and larger public to the repertoire written for voice and lute. The ensemble sets to create new programmes, based on rarely performed pieces. Since its foundation, A Dialogue on a kiss performed at the Early Music Festival in Utrecht as part of Fabulous Fringe, at the Yehi’am Early Music Festival, in Israel, and lately at the Musica Antica da Camera series in The Hague. 2017 saw the launching of the ensemble’s first CD- Tis now dead Night, featuring “Songs of mourning”, one of the first song cycles in music history. A Dialogue on a kiss latest programme explores forgotten Sturm und Drang gems.
