Carlos Monteiro started his musical studies at the Conservatório Regional de Setúbal  (Portugal) where he studied piano with António Toscano and vocal technique with Silvia Martinho and ended the course of Singing in the music school of the Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa , in the class of Rute Dutra.
He simultaneously graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon.

In 2013 finished his degree in Singing with the maximum classification on the final exam at Superior School of Music of Lisbon, in the class of Luis Madureira. In 2016, he started his Master studies in Early Music - Singing at the Royal Conservatoire in den Haag, in the class of Rita Dams .

Has participated regularly in the International Early Music Courses organized by the Academia de Música Antiga de Lisboa  (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010), where he worked with Jill Feldman vocal technique and style in early and baroque german, italian, english and french repertoire.
In March 2009 participated in the Workshop on the Early Singing in CCB - Lisbon with Maria Cristina Kiehr. Has attended private lessons with Howard Crook, Susan Waters, Elisabete Matos and João Lourenço and did masterclasses with Enza Ferrari, Yvonne Minton and Tom Krause.

In 2007, he presented himself at the 1st National Competition in Singing of Official Conservatories - Aveiro, in 2008 at the 2nd edition of the competition Prémio José Augusto Alegria – Évora, in 2010 at the competition of Lyric Singing of the Portuguese Rotary Foundation and in 2011 at the singing competition Luisa Todi - Setúbal.

As a singer in ENSEMBLE , he sang in the chorus of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation - Lisbon, in the chorus of the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos - Lisbon, in the Chamber Choir of the University of Lisbon, in productions of Associação Musical Lisboa Cantat . With La Capella Reial de Catalunya, has sung Die Israeliten in der Wüste  by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, maestro Jordi Savall (Auditori-Barcelona e Cité de La Musique-Paris)(2014), Saint Matthew’s Passion by J. S. Bach, maestro Jordi Savall (Palau de la Música-Barcelona e Lleida)(2015) and The Fairy Queen, H. Purcell, maestro Jordi Savall (2016). He is a member of the Vocal Ensemble Olisipo.
