Haebyul Kim

Known for her communicative and dynamically expressive musicality, conductor Haebyul Kim (1985) began her musical studies at the age of ten. Through a prestigious four year scholarship for voice, she graduated with not only a Bachelor degree, but also with an interest in choral conducting. Under the guidance of Sunah Kim, a Baroque specialist, she obtained her Master’s degree and then decided to move abroad to the Netherlands in order to further her knowledge. After nurturing her background in voice, piano, and choral conducting skills in Korea, she was led to a budding interest in orchestral conducting, which she has since been pursuing, first in Utrecht, and currently in Maastricht with Arjan Tien. Within the last few years, Ms. Kim has participated in several high profile events, such as the Aurora Festival Masterclass in Sweden under the direction of the esteemed conductor, Kurt Masur. She has also attended the Complete Beethoven Symphonies Conducting Masterclass as part of the London Classical Soloists under the direction of Achim Holub. There have been several events in Utrecht and Den Haag during which she conducted the Strozzi International Choir, the Utrecht Flute Festival, and various other projects. In Amsterdam, she was the main conductor of the Korean Choir. In 2012, she was selected to be a part of the Elle Korea Top 3 Young Talent Artist Interview. During this interview, she was able to touch upon the different experiences she as a foreigner was confronted with when moving abroad in order to pursue her passions. Ms. Kim aspires to make her way through the male dominated field with the determination to become the bridge between the audiences and the timeless masterpieces..
